EMPORIA, Kan. (WIBW) – A former standout for Emporia State’s football team has been waived by the Indianapolis Colts.
Former Hornet Tyler Kahmann didn’t crack the Colts’ final 53-man roster following Tuesday’s league-wide deadline. The two-time Division II All-American and Haysville, Kan. native signed with the Colts as an undrafted free agent in April.

Kahmann ended his Hornet career as the MIAA record holder for career touchdowns (54) and set the MIAA single-game record for receiving yards (296). He holds nearly every Emporia State single-game, single-season, and career receiving record. His 1,488 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns in 2024 set Emporia State’s single-season records.

He is the MIAA record holder with 54 career touchdown grabs and set the MIAA single-game record with 296 receiving yards against Neb.-Kearney. In Kahmann’s career, he has 3,686 receiving yards on 282 receptions and 54 touchdowns. His five touchdown receptions against Neb.-Kearney are also a school record.

Emporia State hosts Minot State on Thursday, Aug. 28 at 7 p.m. for its season opener.
