NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Among the moves the Tennessee Titans made to get their roster to the required 53 players by the NFL’s Tuesday deadline, the team placed Tyjae Spears on Injured Reserve.
The running back tweaked his ankle in the Titans’ first preseason game in Tampa Bay and was carted off the field. Spears will now miss the first four games of the 2025 season.
The Titans kept six receivers on their initial 53-man roster and they decided to release James Proche. The veteran had a solid camp and was pushing to be the team’s primary punt returner.
Xavier Restrepo was also waived, but could be brought back to the team’s practice squad.

The Titans also parted ways with a pair of 2023 draft picks.
Tight end Josh Whyle and offensive tackle Jaelyn Duncan were waived.
The team opted to keep 2024 7th rounder outside linebacker Jaylen Harrell.
The Titans have the first pick off the waiver wire, which must be made by 11 a.m. CT on Wednesday. So, the names we see on the roster today may not be that way 24 hours from now.
