Now that the Jacksonville Jaguars’ 53-man roster is set, one of the next steps for GM James Gladstone will be assembling the practice squad.
Waiver claims for any released players with fewer than four years of accrued NFL experience can be made until 12:00 PM ET on Wednesday. After that, any unclaimed players can then be signed to practice squads.

Teams are able to carry up to 16 players on the practice squad–17 if the team has an International Pathway Player–and most of the additions made will be players who were on the training camp roster, although there will be some outside additions as well.
Of the 16 players, 10 must be first or second-year players, according to ESPN.
Here are 10 players that the Jaguars just released, but I imagine they are hopeful to get this group back on the practice squad.
QB Seth Henigan
Henigan was signed as an undrafted rookie after this past April’s draft out of Memphis. He completed 71.1% of his 38 preseason passes for 178 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions. Stashing the younger, higher upside player in Hennigan vs. bringing back Wolford makes more sense.

CB Jabbar Muhammad
Signed as an undrafted rookie, Muhammad played out of the slot with the Jaguars. He allowed seven receptions on nine targets for just 34 yards. He graded out well against the run by PFF’s metrics.
WR Eli Pancol
Refinement is needed, as is the case for every UDFA, but Pancol showed a willingness to do the dirty work that comes with playing receiver, including being the motion man, helping out in the run game, and contributing on special teams.
RB Ja’Quinden Jackson
Jackson had a really impressive training camp. He averaged 4.3 yards per rush in the preseason and caught two passes for 13 yards while regularly making plays in practice.

S Cam’Ron Silmon-Craig
Silmon-Craig was signed as a UDFA out of Colorado after the 2025 NFL draft. He played 92 defensive snaps this preseason, totaling seven tackles, while allowing one reception on three targets for seven yards. Silmon-Craig played 30 special teams snaps as well.
OL Sal Wormley
Wormley got better as the preseason rolled on and ended up surrendering no pressures against Miami. For what it’s worth, he graded out very well in the run game as well by PFF’s metrics.
TE Patrick Herbert
Herbert held his own in the run game as a blocker, which he was asked to do a lot of at Oregon. If you’re a team and see that ability in a UDFA, I think you hold on and continue to develop that player, knowing the passing game impact can be fine-tuned.

DT Jordan Jefferson
A 2024 fourth-round draft pick, just because Jefferson didn’t make the initial roster doesn’t mean the Jaguars should fully move on, especially at a position that long-term still has its unknowns. Jefferson logged one pressure, seven tackles, and four run stops over three preseason games.
TE Quintin Morris
The Jaguars have just three tight ends on the roster, but if ever in a pinch, Morris and his veteran experience could be called upon quickly. He has been a blocking-first tight end in his career–an important part of playing the position in Liam Coen’s offense.
WR Trenton Irwin
Much like Morris, there would be value in having Irwin’s experience readily available on the practice squad. He flashed this summer in the passing game and has special teams experience.
