The Baltimore Ravens released their initial 53-man roster. With one surprise cut in cornerback Jalyn Armour-Davis and three undrafted rookie free agents making the team in defensive backs Reuben Lowery and Keyon Martin and linebacker Jay Higgins, there was another bit of read between the lines piece of news.

Tight end Isaiah Likely does not have an injury designation. Likely is on the Ravens initial 53-man roster, meaning he is on schedule to be ready for week one at Buffalo on September 7th, or worst case soon mid-September.

The Ravens could have stashed him away on the Physical Unable to Perform list, but that would have meant he’s out four games. The Ravens are expecting Likely to be ready at the start of the season or just as close as he can be to it following foot surgery early on in training camp.

The Ravens did have other players with injury designation on the initial 53-man roster: Outside linebacker Adisa Isaac is on the Injured Reserve/Designated To Return list (elbow surgery), rookie tackle Emery Jones on the Reserve/Non-Football Injury list following a shoulder injury and surgery before he was drafted, and safety Ar’Darius Washington on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform following a torn achilles this offseason.
