The Los Angeles Rams are looking to make a push towards a Super Bowl in 2025, but their defense needs some work. For the Rams, their linebacker group in particular is extremely lacking.Â
To back this up with another opinion, Mike Clay of ESPN had the Rams’ linebacker group ranked as the worst in the NFL. With Isaiah Simmons being released by the Green Bay Packers, that opens the door for Simmons to find a new home in Los Angeles.
Coming out of Clemson, the Arizona Cardinals selected Simmons with the 8th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Despite having big expectations, Simmons hasn’t necessarily lived up to them.
Below, we’ll break down what the future holds for Simmons and why the Rams should add him to their roster.
This is a PREDICTION, not a REPORT.

Los Angeles Rams Signing Isaiah Simmons in NFL Free Agency
Throughout five years in the NFL, Simmons has bounced around from team to team. After starting out with the Cardinals, Simmons also played for the New York Giants for two years.
While Simmons isn’t necessarily super young, he’s still 27 years old. The athleticism is clearly there; he just needs to put everything else together.Â
Does Isaiah Simmons Fit in Los Angeles?
In terms of whether Simmons will fit in Los Angeles, the answer is simple. The Rams have one of the worst linebacker units in the NFL, and Simmons has the traits that make him worth having on an NFL roster.Â
For reference, the Packers’ room ranked 17th on Clay’s ESPN ranking, which is substantially better than the Rams. When looking at that, it makes sense why Simmons would be able to fit the Rams roster but not the Packers.
Los Angeles Rams 2025 Outlook
Adding Simmons to the Rams isn’t going to be a splash move for this defense. With that being said, if the Rams and Simmons mesh well, there’s no reason why he can’t put up the kind of production that he gave the Cardinals back in 2022.
It’s also safe to say that Simmons has yet to live up to the hype that was placed on him as a prospect. While it seems unlikely at this point that he’ll meet those expectations, there’s a small chance that Simmons could have the best year of his career in Los Angeles.
It seems unlikely that this is the end of the road for Simmons. With the pedigree and athletic tools that Simmons has, it would make sense for the Rams to give him a shot.
Right now, the Rams have +2000 odds to win the Super Bowl per FanDuel, and they’re going to want to make depth moves. Simmons would be a perfect fit for that goal.
Isaiah Simmons Stats
Through those five years in the NFL, the stats from Simmons haven’t been great. Simmons has played in 84 games, and in that time, he’s recorded 239 tackles, five interceptions, and nine forced fumbles.
One of the best seasons from Simmons was back in 2022 when he had 99 tackles, four sacks, and two forced fumbles with the Cardinals.Â
Recently, though, Simmons hasn’t looked great. During the 2024 season with the Giants, Simmons started in just one game, recording 21 tackles and one forced fumble.
Again, this is just a prediction about why the Los Angeles Rams should sign Isaiah Simmons in NFL free agency, not a report.
