After both teams opened their seasons at home last Friday, the Brookville and Central Clarion football teams take to the road for Week 2 matchups this Friday.
While the Raiders travel to Karns City, the Wildcats trek Keystone to take on the Panthers team that dealt the Raiders their loss last week.
Here’s a look at this week’s games:
Raiders (0-1) at
Karns City (1-0)
For the Raiders, it’ll be a rebound attempt from their 55-6 loss to the Panthers against a Karns City squad that hammered St. Marys 61-6 on the road last week.
The Gremlins got four touchdowns from Hunter Scherer, who ran for two scores and caught two TD passes from quarterback Cole Johnston. Johnston threw for three TDs and ran for a fourth.
So it’ll be a challenge for the Raiders against a Gremlins team that brings back much from last year’s 7-3 team that beat the Raiders 34-7 last year to end a four-game losing streak to the Raiders who had won eight of 10 matchups.
Johnston threw for 830 yards and 11 TDs and rushed for 627 yards and six TDs last year while Scherer led the Gremlins in rushing with 794 yards and 14 TDs.
Wildcats (1-0) at
Keystone (1-0)
The Wildcats look to rebound from their first regular-season loss since the end of the 2022 season when they face the Panthers for the first time ever since the C-L/Clarion jointure began.
The Panthers got a big night from quarterback Dom Corcetti, who ran for 276 yards and four TDs, and passed for 63 yards and other score.
The Wildcats gave up 356 yards rushing to run-heavy Kirtland, Ohio, in their 30-7 loss last week at home.
Wildcats first-year starting quarterback Carter Hindman completed 7 of 17 passes for 110 yards and was intercepted twice. He ran for the team’s lone TD on a 5-yard run in the third quarter.
The Wildcats lost sophomore Brody Beggs and senior Benny Yang to serious injuries that may knock them out for the forseeable future. Lineman Hayden Hindman left the game last week as well, but should be back in uniform for the Panthers.
