The Cincinnati Bengals didn’t make a move at the waiver wire after final cuts.
But they sure tried.
According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the Bengals put in a claim on defensive tackle Jordan Jefferson, only for the San Francisco 49ers to sit higher in priority and be rewarded his rights.

A former fourth-round pick and LSU product, Jefferson played eight games as a rookie in Jacksonville last year but didn’t make the final cuts this summer.
The attempted claim says much about how the Bengals feel at the spot right now. They went heavy on the interior of the defensive line at final cuts, even keeping undrafted players Eric Gregory and Howard Cross as deep depth behind Kris Jenkins Jr. and McKinnley Jackson.
Defensive tackle remains one of the overloaded spots that will see a player cut if the Bengals add someone to the 53.
