The Tennessee Titans made a flurry of roster moves on Wednesday as they continue to fine-tune their 53-man roster ahead of the regular season opener against the Denver Broncos.

The dust had barely settled on their initial roster when they took advantage of free agency and the waiver wire to bring in reinforcements. One of those players, cornerback Jalyn Armour-Davis, was a hot commodity and coveted by multiple teams after being released by the Baltimore Ravens.

NFL Insider Mike Garafolo reported that four teams, including the Philadelphia Eagles and Miami Dolphins, submitted waiver claims for the versatile cornerback, with the Titans prevailing due to their waiver priority.

Cornerback was one of the most disappointing position groups to watch during the preseason. While the top of the depth chart looks good, the players below the top four (not counting L’Jarius Sneed) struggled and proved to be liabilities. The Titans were in the market for some cornerback help after seeing none of the corners signed during the offseason seize their opportunities in preseason or training camp, and the addition of Armour-Davis (and Samuel Womack) could give the secondary a lift.

A former fourth-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft by the Baltimore Ravens out of the University of Alabama, the 6-foot-1, 200-pound cornerback should be somewhat familiar with defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson and be able to slide into the secondary early on. Wilson was the defensive backs coach for Armour-Davis with the Raiders in 2023 prior to joining Brian Callahan’s staff last season.

A versatile cornerback with the flexibility to play multiple spots in the backend of the secondary. He had a solid preseason for the Ravens, leading the NFL in pass deflections, but was pushed out in a numbers game. In his career, he has appeared in 19 games and recorded 20 tackles and two passes defensed.

With Sneed still working his way back onto the field after spending the entire offseason and most of training camp rehabbing his knee, Tennessee may need the added depth when they kick off the season on Sunday, September 7, against the Denver Broncos.
