The Micah Parsons era in Dallas is over.
The Cowboys on Thursday dealt their former star outside linebacker to the Green Bay Packers for defensive tackle Kenny Clark and two first-round picks.
Parsons had been looking for a lucrative payday to stay in Dallas long term, but it didn’t work out and Jerry Jones let the 2021 No. 12 overall pick leave to an NFC foe.
With the move, Green Bay and Parsons inked a four-year, $188 million deal. The $47 million average annual salary is the highest for a non-quarterback and $6 million more than the next-highest player on the list (Pittsburgh’s T.J. Watt).
With Clark coming in, the Cowboys are getting a ready-now interior on the defensive line, but the soon-to-be 30-year-old is coming off a down season. Speaking at a press conference after the trade was announced, Jones said the team could use those two picks in a package for a different star.
But for now, the focus is on the Cowboys losing their defensive cornerstone and the city of Dallas losing another key face following Luka Doncic’s departure to the Los Angeles Lakers.
Here’s how social media reacted to the blockbuster trade:
Don’t worry y’all, Mikko Rantanen is a Dallas Star.

The Cowboys:
– dragged CeeDee Lamb to the eleventh hour
– dragged Dak Prescott (the second time around) to the eleventh hour and change
– literally traded away Micah Parsons
The front office has put on a masterclass effort at proving how to be the worst ever at this in a year.

Kenny Clark had the worst season of his career last year posting a 59.0 PFF grade. 1 sack, 4 tackles for loss, and 11 pressures.
All career lows.
