After months of anticipation, Week 1 of the 2025 college football season is finally here. Saturday’s slate is full of intriguing matchups that will shape the College Football Playoff picture and provide fans with the opportunity to see familiar faces in new places.

The marquee game on the schedule will see No. 1 Texas travel to Columbus, Ohio, to face No. 3 Ohio State. The Buckeyes defeated the Longhorns 28-14 earlier this calendar year in the CFP semifinals, which helped Ohio State punch its ticket to the national title game. Texas will start former highly touted recruit Arch Manning at quarterback, while Ohio State plans to roll with Julian Sayin.

No. 2 Penn State enters the year with lofty expectations and faces Nevada on CBS at 3:30 p.m. ET. During the same window, Florida State will look to make a statement and put a dreadful 2024 season behind it as the Seminoles host No. 8 Alabama.

In the evening window, No. 4 Clemson hosts No. 9 LSU in a matchup featuring two of the top quarterbacks in the country. LSU’s Garrett Nussmeier and Clemson’s Cade Klubnik are two of the top contenders to win the Heisman Trophy, and this game is almost certain to have implications on the CFP picture down the line.

CBS Sports will be here every step of the way to update you with the latest scores, highlights and storylines throughout the evening. All times Eastern
