Believe it or not, it happened. A Florida State Seminoles team that won two games in 2024 opened with a home win over the Alabama Crimson Tide. This was the visiting team’s first-ever trip to Tallahassee. They will not remember it fondly.

The Philadelphia Eagles‘ scouting staff has a lot to talk about after this one. Alabama had won 23 straight season openers. FSU had lost six of its last eight. The ‘Noles took care of business and are now halfway to equaling their win total from last season.

Serious conversations about the 2026 NFL Draft will come later, but a scout’s job never ends. Think of this as a positive contribution to the process. Here are a couple of talented prospects that the Eagles will want to add to their draft board, if they haven’t already done so.

Germie Bernard, Alabama, wide receiver

In 2024, Germie Bernard hauled in 50 catches for 794 yards and two touchdowns. After an eight-reception, 146-yard (18.3 avg) debut in Week 1, he could be on his way to producing more in 2025.

Josh Cuevas, Alabama, tight end

Josh Cuevas found the end zone in Week 1, something we should expect him to do all season. He feels like a late-Day two or a Day 3 prospect. Time will tell, though.

Jaeden Roberts, Alabama, guard

Jaeden Roberts began his career at right guard for Alabama. He’s six foot five and tips the scales at 316 pounds. Things can change, but right now, he feels like a Day 3 talent.

Luke Petitbon, Florida State, center

The Eagles have several players on their roster who can play center. While it may seem they don’t need another, Luke Petitbon would provide some insurance as a Day 3 pick who can add depth.

L.T. Overton, Alabama, defensive tackle

Overton began his NCAA career with the Texas A&M Aggies. He joined the Alabama Crimson Tide in 2024. He has it all: height, length, speed, and athleticism.

Darrell Jackson Jr., Florida State, defensive tackle

We learned long ago that, regardless of how stacked the Eagles appear to be at defensive tackle, they are always willing to add more, especially if that guy is six feet five and 330 pounds.

If L.T. Overton isn’t an option, Darrell Jackson is another option, one that could be added on Day 2, possibly in Round 2. Week 1’s game wasn’t his best effort, but he’ll be among the sought-after interior defensive linemen at season’s end.

Deonte Lawson, Alabama, linebacker

The suddenly-loaded Eagles may not be in the market for a linebacker early, but that isn’t how draft boards work. Everyone crafting their sheet will have Deonte Lawson’s name on it. Lawson had six tackles in the loss.

Domani Jackson, Alabama, cornerback

When it’s all said and done, this may be the top-ranked cornerback on everyone’s board. That may rule him out as a realistic Eagles option, but once upon a time, we thought Philadelphia couldn’t land Jalen Carter or Quinyon Mitchell in the same draft. How did that work out?

Keon Sabb, Alabama, safety

Keon Sabb’s 2025 season opens with a handful of tackles and a sack. He’ll be on everyone’s watch list all season. A College Football Playoff national champion during his time with the Michigan Wolverines, he’ll be a solid choice for any NFL team that acquires him.

Squirrel White, Florida State, wide receiver

Squirrel White only caught one pass in Week 1, but it was huge. He set up a scoring opportunity thanks to a 40-yard reception and a dash down the sideline. He’s a burner!

Bray Hubbard, safety, Alabama

Once his buddy Keon Sabb is off the board, Bray Hubbard is a nice consolation prize. Both seem like Day 2 talents, but NFL teams will probably rate Sabb higher.
