New York Jets running back Breece Hall is heading into the last season of his rookie contract, but he has previously said that he doesn’t expect an extension before the season. Hall has made it clear that he doesn’t envy the recent contracts signed by Buffalo Bills running back James Cook or Los Angeles Rams running back Kyren Williams, but he could chance depending on how his 2025 NFL season goes.

“The difference isn’t as substantial as he thinks — Cook and Williams have more rushing yards and total touchdowns than Hall , but Hall has the edge in scrimmage yards,” ESPN’s Rich Cimini wrote while discussing various topics related to the Jets. While Hall isn’t in danger of missing part of the season due to a holdout of some sort, his next deal could be something for the team to worry about moving forward.

“If he can deliver a good season, he will look for a deal similar to Cook’s and Williams’ contracts,” Cimini continued. “It might be too rich for the Jets, especially with so many other key players up for new contracts.” Williams recently signed a three-year, $33 million deal with the Rams while Cook signed a new deal of four years and $46 million after missing some training camp practices due to what he called “business.”

Hall, 24, is coming off a 2024 season in which he ran the ball 209 times for 876 yards (4.2 yards per carry) and five touchdowns while playing in 16 of New York’s 17 games. Those numbers represented a down year for the former Iowa State Cyclone as he put up 994 rushing yards on 223 carries (4.5 YPC) while scoring five touchdowns. Hall was previously asked about the deals of Williams and Cook and while he acknowledged that those two players have earned their deals, he also displayed his belief within his own game at the same time.

“They’ve both done much more in this league than I have,” Hall said earlier in training camp. “They’ve been in better situations, and they’re both very good players. Obviously, I feel like I’m just as talented as anyone, but those guys are two really good running backs, and they deserve their payday and they got what they deserve.”
