We may not have seen the last of Blake Watson in a Denver Broncos uniform.

The second-year running back was waived with an injury settlement last week after he suffered a knee injury in the team’s preseason finale. It’s still possible that the Broncos could bring him back on the practice squad, but they have to abide by the NFL’s procedural rules for an injured player.

Chris Tomasson of the Denver Gazette tweeted on Saturday that the Broncos “have interest” in signing Watson to the practice squad, but they have to wait at least three weeks after the injury settlement before being allowed to do so. If the running back recovers within three weeks, the team could — in theory — sign him to the practice squad ahead of a Week 3 clash with the Los Angeles Chargers on Sept. 21 (view the full schedule).

Watson (5-9, 195 pounds) signed with Denver as an undrafted free agent out of Memphis in 2024. The 25-year-old running back rushed 18 times for 75 yards and hauled in 10 receptions for 50 yards during preseason.
