Of the eight main additions last year, only two have worked out.
The Arizona Cardinals made some big moves in free agency this year. They added defensive linemen Calais Campbell and Dalvin Tomlinson and outside linebacker Josh Sweat in their biggest moves. They also added linebacker Akeem Davis-Gaither and brought back a number of players.
Hopefully, their free agent clas this year fares better than last year.
The 2024 free agent class has not worked out for the Cardinals very well.
Cardinals’ 2024 free agent signings who haven’t worked out
The Cardinals haven’t gotten very much from their free agent signings in 2024.
DL Justin Jones
Jones signed three-year contract worth more than $30 million. He played three games last season before a seaosn-ending triceps injury. Now he begins the season on injured reserve with a knee injury.
LD Bilal Nichols
After signing a three-year, $21 million deal, Nichols suffered a season-ending neck injury after six games last season. He is still out, starting the season on PUP.
RB DeeJay Dallas
Dallas signed a three-year, $8.25 million deal last year, and he was solid for one season. He averaged 30.6 yards on kickoff returns and scored a touchdown. However, he was cut after the preseason, so the Cardinals got one year out of him.
CB Sean Murphy-Bunting
He signed a three-year. $22.5 million deal to join the Cardinals. While he played in and started 15 games last season and had three interceptions, he suffered an offseason knee injury and will miss the entire 2025 season.
WR Zay Jones
Jones signed a one-year deal worth $2.25 million. He was suspended for the first five and games and only had eight receptions after coming back. He did re-sign this offseason and looked good in training camp.
2024 free agents who have worked out
The Cardinals had two free agent additions work out.
LB Mack Wilson
Wilson signed a three-year, $12.75 milion contract last year was a solid addition. He started 16 games last season, and he had 75 tackles, three sacks and five pass breakups. He now enters 2025 as the team’s starting “Mike” linebacker.
He has worked out.
OL Evan Brown
After signing a one-year contract in free agency in 2024, Brown was the team’s most consistent lineman all season, logging 1,070 naps and starting every game at left guard.
The Cardinals re-signed him to a two-year contract this year and he continues as a starter.
