A former Georgia Bulldogs College Football Playoff hero has landed with a NFL team. Cornerback Derion Kendrick, who was previously with the Los Angeles Rams, was claimed by the Seattle Seahawks. He could see some snaps with Seattle this year.

Kendrick was selected in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL draft by the Los Angeles Rams. Early on, he overachieved for a sixth-rounder early on, garnering 4 pass breakups and 43 tackles in 2022. He improved on those numbers in 2023, with 10 pass breakups and 49 tackles.

Unfortunately, Kendrick went down with a torn ACL in practice in July 2024. Almost a year later, in June 2025, Kendrick was placed on waivers in June. The Rams re-signed him four days later, but Kendrick didn’t end up making the Rams 53-man roster, getting cut in Aug. 2025.

Kendrick is hoping a change of scenery can jump start his NFL career, similar to his college career. Kendrick first played for Clemson from 2018-20. He actually started as a wide receiver, but when asked to play corner in 2019, he impressed so much that he earned the starting job. Unfortunately, he regressed in 2020, only playing nine games, and in Feb. 2021, he was dismissed from the team due to disciplinary issues.

Looking for a fresh start after transferring to Georgia, Kendrick hit the ground running. With Georgia, Kendrick had 41 tackles and four interceptions, including two against Michigan in the Orange Bowl. He helped Georgia win the 2021 national championship, their first since 1980.
