One current Indianapolis Colts player was named among the NFL’s top free agents for the 2026 offseason.
NFL.com’s Gregg Rosenthal put together his pre-2025 season ranking of the 25 best available free agents in 2026. Coming in at No. 14 was Colts‘ wide receiver Alec Pierce.

“This league is desperate for big plays, and Pierce averaged an NFL-high 22.3 yards per catch in 2024, routinely streaking past defenders deep down the field,” wrote Rosenthal.
Pierce is coming off a breakout season in 2024. This included him totaling 824 receiving yards and doing so on only 37 receptions with seven touchdowns.
As Rosenthal mentions, he led the NFL in yards per catch, emerging as one of the game’s most productive deep threats. Pierce’s 12 receptions for 20-plus yards were also the sixth-most among wideouts, per PFF.
Pierce will, of course, still provide the Colts with that vertical presence this season, but a point of emphasis for him this offseason was on expanding his route tree so he can impact other levels of the field more regularly as well.

During training camp, Pierce, who is entering the final year of his rookie deal, mentioned that he is expecting to play out this season on his current contract and then see what happens.
