Monday, the Bengals signed former Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Mike Pennel. According to NFL reporter Jordan Schultz, the plan is to start the veteran on the practice squad, then elevate him on game days if needed.

The Bengals had an open spot on the practice squad after attempting to slip a popular undrafted free agent through the waiver wire, only for the New England Patriots to step in and ruin those plans.

This means the Bengals have added free agency help at the neediest areas with Pennel, tight end Noah Fant and guard Dalton Risner.
