New Orleans Saints to debut new “Gameday Golds” alternate uniform in season opener
Kellen Moore talked to both Spencer Rattler and Tyler Shuck, and then he talked to the team to let them know that they were gonna roll with Rattler as *** starting quarterback and in Kellen Moore’s eyes, he feels like Ratler has progressed this entire offseason. The last couple of weeks he’s been very consistent, making very good decisions with the football now. He says they will always rally behind Rattler through the good and the bad, which means no quarterback controversy for more and the black and gold. I think that’s, that’s the important thing, guys. We’re not getting in this QB debate throughout the season. Uh, Spencer, our starting quarterback. Tyler’s gonna keep developing, um, you know, quarterbacks, you need *** couple quarterbacks in seasons. These are long NFL seasons and so, uh, you know, I think we do value that we have depth there and we’ll have to navigate. Uh, the rest of it as we go, but, uh, you know, we’re really excited about Spence. He’s gonna do an awesome job for us. You want the confidence of your coach. You want the confidence of your teammates, um, you gotta earn that every day by working hard and leading this group, and, um, I have no doubt that I’ll bring *** mile every day, and, uh, I know everybody else will. And bringing his all is exactly what Rattler has done to earn him the job, growing *** lot since last season where he went winless in 6 starts. Experience is very, very valuable and, and, you know, spend. Went through some challenging things last year and for him to come out of that *** better player but then to be able to respond really really well all off season I think was *** tremendous testament to his, his work ethic and his the way his mind works. I think, uh, he’s got ability to kind of rebound from from uh *** challenge interception, *** mistake, whatever it may be, um, that’s one of the things that makes Spence great. Last year was definitely different, obviously, um, starting the year off as the emergency 3 and then, you know, being in and out, in and out in and. Out, um, wasn’t *** lot of consistency last year, um, obviously *** lot of moving parts last year, but it feels good to just get *** full camp under your belt this year, getting *** lot of work with the ones, um, and then, you know, preseason as well, so feel *** little more comfortable, *** little more confident coming into this year, um, you know, earning that role and excited to get out there with the guys. Even more excited that it won’t be like last year where Rattler is gonna have to come off the bench. I mean, it’s good to know, you know, who they’re rolling with before the week one, I guess you can say so. Um, happy with that. It’s definitely off my shoulders, but this is something I work, work toward and expected. Helen just pulled us aside and, and talk to us about it you just one on one with me and, um, yeah, just talk to me about what we’re gonna do this season and, um, you know, obviously I’m super disappointed as *** competitor, but. I’m ready to roll and support Spencer in any way that I can and this whole team. Tyler Shuck certainly taking the high road even though he’s disappointed, but he’s had to fight through adversity so many times in his career and will do it once again in the NFL. In my head I’m still competing every day. Um, I think everything is an evaluation, especially in this league, you know, you never know, um, what can happen, you know, I think at the end of the day. Job is to support Spencer and and that’s me competing and do everything I can to um to practice as well as I can give great great looks to to learn to grow, to continue to offer support so that’s all part of it. I’m just really excited about Tyler’s, uh, development. I think uh he’s done *** really, really good job uh again I, I, I very much value the developmental process of quarterbacks in this league and I think it’s really important that. Um, you know, he just keeps growing, you know, I think for him it’s the first time in *** number of situations, maybe *** number of, uh, different things he’s, he’s being asked to do, um. And growth comes with more time and simply it was just Rattler’s time, maybe the most exciting time of his football career. This is something you work toward your whole life, you know this is something I’ve dreamed of since *** kid and it’s here now and I don’t wanna waste it, wanna go out there and make the best of it. And Spencer Rattler is more than excited to get that start against the Arizona Cardinals because of course he is from Phoenix and he knows *** lot of guys on that team, so you better believe he’s gonna go out there and try to show everyone from his hometown. The New Orleans Saints will debut their new “Gameday Golds” alternate uniform during the team’s Week 1 home opener against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, September 7, 2025.The “Gameday Golds” are part of the ongoing effort to enhance the Saints’ gameday experience. This will mark the first time since 2002 that the team takes the field in gold jerseys. The updated design offers a modern twist on the original look, honoring the team’s history while ushering in a new chapter for the franchise.
