Tennessee Titans head coach Brian Callahan met with the media ahead of their season opener against the Denver Broncos.
During the press conference, Callahan acknowledged that the team is in for a tough opener against one of the best defensive fronts in football, but is confident that rookie Cam Ward will be ready. The Titans have been preparing Ward from his first day in Nashville for this game and want the young quarterback to play fast.
“There’s going to be plenty of things he gonna see that maybe he hadn’t seen. He’s got to manage those things,” Callahan said. “But at the end of the day, try to put him in a position to play as fast as possible.”

Throughout training camp and the preseason, Callahan is also pleased with the way his offense (and defense) is limiting the self-inflicted wounds that plagued them in 2024. After making it a point of emphasis in the offseason, Tennessee responded by being the least penalized offense in the preseason and limiting turnovers by not fumbling the football. The defense also landed in the top 10 of the least penalized teams heading into the regular season.
As Callahan pointed out, there is no guarantee that this trend will continue into the regular season, and the special teams still have some areas to improve, but it was a positive step forward.
Tennessee has a tough matchup traveling to Denver for the opener and is being counted out by many, but as Callahan pointed out, Tennessee will be ready to go. “We are in prove-it mode,” Callahan said during the press conference, and teams playing with chips on their shoulders can be a dangerous opponent.
