The Indianapolis Colts open Week 1 of the regular season against the Dolphins, and it sounds like Miami running back De’Von Achane will be available.
Achane had missed the previous two weeks with a calf injury, but he returned to practice on Monday.

“I’m expecting him to not miss a beat based on his tremendous offseason and I would envision him being available for Week 1,” Dolphins’ coach Mike McDaniel said of Achane, via Dolphins Wire. “We’ve been very, very aggressive with treatment so that there’s no setbacks and that will the focus and, if he doesn’t have any setbacks, he’ll be playing.”
A third-round pick by the Dolphins in 2023, Achane rushed for 813 yards that season, averaging a whopping 7.5 yards per attempt, showcasing his big-play abilities.
In this most recent season, he totaled 907 rushing yards at 4.5 yards per carry, ranking 12th among all backs in PFF’s breakaway rate metric–or how often a ball carrier broke a run of at least 15 yards.
Achane also recorded 592 receiving yards in 2024 as well.

When facing the Colts in Week 7 last season, Achane rushed for 77 yards, averaging 5.1 yards per carry.
While DeForest Buckner and Grover Stewart lead the way at defensive tackle, the Colts reshaped the depth behind them, signing Neville Gallimore in free agency, along with claiming Eric Johnson on waivers.
Indianapolis also drafted defensive end JT Tuimoloau, who was a stout run defender at Ohio State.
Helping the Colts get improved play from their run defense this season will be Lou Anarumo’s defensive scheme. We can anticipate more movement up front, along with more blitzing than we’ve seen in previous years.

McDaniel mentioned late last week that wide receiver Tyreek Hill is also on track to play against the Colts.
