Carolina Panthers legends Cam Newton and Steve Smith Sr. will be back together again.

As reported by Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports on Tuesday, Blue Wire Podcasts will now serve as the official platform for Smith’s podcast/YouTube program, The 89 Show. Carolina’s all-time leading receiver has signed a multi-year deal with the network, which is also partnered up with Newton’s 4th & 1 with Cam Newton.

Per McCarthy, Blue Wire founder and CEO Kevin Jones says that Smith and Newton plan to make guest appearances on each other’s shows. The two were teammates with the Panthers from 2011 to 2013.

Smith, via an official statement to Front Office Sports, had the following to say about his move:

“Football fans know me as someone who doesn’t hold back and consistently brings unfiltered and straightforward takes. Blue Wire gives The 89 Show an enhanced platform to continue bringing James’ and my perspective to an expanded audience with new distribution. Fans can count on The 89 Show to be honest, direct, and entertaining.”

Well, those guest appearances are destined to be entertaining—especially after what seemed to be a public falling-out earlier this year. Smith took exception to some remarks made in February by Newton, who had said he entered a “locker room of losers” as a rookie in 2011.

Newton would later clarify his comments, stating that he was not referring to Smith as one of the “losers.” Smith has yet to respond to Newton’s follow-up.

So, maybe the two will have a time and place for that—and perhaps for much more.
