Mykal Walker played all 17 games with the Washington Commanders during the 2024 season. One of several players signed to a one-year deal, Washington did not re-sign Walker, allowing him to become a free agent. Walker signed with the Arizona Cardinals as a free agent in March, but he was released during their final cuts last month.
Walker wasn’t out of work long, signing with the New York Jets’ practice squad on Monday.
Walker, 28, spent his first three seasons with the Atlanta Falcons after he was selected in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL draft. Walker played for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2023 before signing with Washington in 2024. He was one of the Commanders’ primary special teams standouts last season, participating in 74% of the special teams snaps. He played in only seven snaps on defense behind Bobby Wagner and Frankie Luvu.

The Commanders kept six linebackers on their 2025 53-man roster, which included two rookies.
Walker has appeared in 74 career games with 25 starts.
