Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman George Karlaftis spoke with reporters on Tuesday to discuss the team’s increasing sack production this season and his motivation.

“We have a lot of motivation going into this season. Prove some people right (and) prove some people wrong,” said Karlaftis, “Fired up and super excited to get this thing started and prove what we got and prove what we are made of.”

The former Purdue standout led Kansas City with eight sacks and 61 pressures last season. The Chiefs’ pass rushers are focusing on more sacks in 2025 and increasing their pressure on opposing quarterbacks.

“Yeah, we’re definitely aware of that (sack numbers), and it’s kind of been talked about amongst ourselves the whole offseason. Definitely one of the motivators we have going into the season,” said Karlaftis, “Just affecting the quarterback in any way we can because that’s going to help our team win at the end of the day and (help) our defense succeed. Definitely something that we’re going to strive for, just getting the quarterback down and affecting the game the best way that we can.”

Since his first season in 2022, Katlaftis has had 32.5 sacks, including the postseason, and 208 pressures.
