Chicago Bears rookie wide receiver Luther Burden III has changed his jersey number for the second time before he even plays a down in the NFL.

Burden started with the No. 87, which he wore throughout the offseason program and the summer. Following roster cuts, Burden switched to No. 13 (formerly Maurice Alexander). But just a few days later, Burden has changed his mind and is now donning No. 10 (formerly Tyler Scott).

Burden wore No. 3 throughout his collegiate career at Missouri, but that number is unavailable as it’s retired in Chicago (in honor of Hall of Fame running back Bronko Nagurski).

Burden was selected with the 39th overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft, adding another weapon for new head coach Ben Johnson’s offense. While Burden is the fourth receiver on the depth chart, behind DJ Moore, Rome Odunze and Olamide Zaccheaus, he has the potential to be a dynamic playmaker for quarterback Caleb Williams.

We’ll see just how often he sees the field as a rookie. But it’s clear he has a bright future following limited preseason action where he showcased his immense potential. But when you’re watching the games, make sure you’re looking for No. 10 now.
