With the Denver Broncos just four days away from beginning their season, we asked quarterback Bo Nix if there is a game he considers a measuring stick for the team in 2025.

Would it be Week 5 against the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, in Philly? Week 13 against the Washington Commanders, or the Christmas Day tilt against the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead, perhaps?

“I’m excited for Sunday (against the Tennessee Titans), get to kick the season off,” said Nix during an interview with Broncos Wire promoting Mizzen+Main. “You get to see our team for the first time. And you can’t have Week 18, 19 without Week 1. So we’re excited for Week 1.”

Much was made about the Broncos‘ offense’s seemingly rocky start in the preseason. The Broncos‘ starting offense had a total of six drives across two games, coming away with 13 total points (two field goals, one touchdown), two punts and a safety surrendered. Nix disagreed with the notion that there is concern based on the preseason performances.

“That depends on who’s calling [the starting offense’s starts] rocky,” Nix said. “I don’t think they understand our scheme or all that kind of stuff, so they’re not really evaluating the correct things. But you know, the season doesn’t start until Sunday; it’s called preseason for a reason.”

Despite the preseason hiccups, Nix is confident in where this team is heading.

“I thought we had a great start the first few times we were able to put on pads and go out there and play,” Nix said. “We moved the ball, got first downs, took care of the football, and essentially got three wins in a row. I know preseason doesn’t really matter, but we ranked No. 1 in both categories [offense and defense]. So I’d say it was a pretty solid outing by our whole team. So excited to see that transition into real game atmospheres.”

Nix and the Broncos will host quarterback Cam Ward — the No. 1 overall pick in this year’s NFL draft — and the Tennessee Titans on Sunday at 2:25 p.m. MT.
