Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love will happily concede the pre-game introduction to Micah Parsons and the defense during Sunday’s season opener against the Detroit Lions, and Love is even trying to manifest what would be an epic start to Parsons’ Packers debut.

Love’s vision? Parsons comes running out of the Lambeau Field tunnel as the last defensive starter introduced, the crowd goes wild, and then the All-Pro edge rusher makes a big play to open the showdown with the Lions.

“They gotta do defense. They gotta do defense, Micah last, you know what I mean?” Love said Wednesday. “Crowd’s gonna go crazy. I already see it, I already see it. Defense go out there first. Get a three-and-out. Micah get a sack on third down. I already see it.”

It’s hard to imagine a better start for one of the biggest acquistions in franchise history.

The Packers acquired Parsons, a three-time All-Pro, in a blockbuster trade with the Dallas Cowboys last week. While Matt LaFleur wasn’t ready on Wednesday to commit to him playing Sunday after missing all of training camp, Parsons did practice in a limited capacity on Monday and again during Wednesday’s padded practice.

Love thinks Parsons will give the Packers an immediate boost.

“It gives us a big jolt,” Love said. “I think everybody was excited because we know what type of player he is. We know exactly who he is and what he’s capable of out there on the field. You look at our defense, what we have already, with RG (Rashan Gary), putting Micah on the other side of that. Some exciting things could happen.”

The Packers are hoping the exciting things happen right away, as Love is envisioning. The two NFC North rivals kick off the season from Lambeau Field at 3:25 p.m. CT on Sunday.
