CORBIN, Ky. (WYMT/WKYT) – A former Whitley County High School football star has died after a motorcycle crash.
An obituary says Tye Hamblin, 19, of Corbin, died Tuesday at the Saint Joseph London Hospital.

According to the Whiteley County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened at the intersection of Hwy. 25 and Angel Road. The sheriff’s office the motorcycle was going around a curve and crashed.
The sheriff’s office thinks speed was a likely factor.
Hamblin graduated from Whitley County High School in May 2024.

The school released this statement on social media:
“Tye was a vibrant part of the Colonel family, who excelled as a student, athlete, and welder. His contagious smile and energy will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Whitley County community as we mourn the loss of one of our own.”
He attended the Kentucky Welding Institute and became a certified welder in March of this year.
His visitation will be Friday from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Whitley Middle School gym.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Ellison Funeral Home Chapel.
