The Indianapolis Colts hope to end an unfortunate 11 year streak in their Week 1 matchup vs. the Dolphins.

Can the Indianapolis Colts put an end to a brutal streak in their Week 1 opener against the Miami Dolphins?

I’m sure everyone knows which streak I’m referring to–although the Colts have a few other unfortunate streaks still ongoing this season, including not having won the AFC South since 2014, not having made the postseason since 2020, and not having won on the road against Jacksonville since 2014.

However, we’ll address those streaks later in the season when the time calls for it. The hapless streak I’m referring to at this time is that the Colts haven’t won a regular-season opener since 2013.

The Colts would beat the Raiders 21-17 in that contest. For some context, Daniel Jones–the Colts’ starting quarterback–was still in high school, while Reggie Wayne–the current wide receivers coach–was still catching passes from Andrew Luck.

In regular-season openers since that game, the Colts have 10 losses and one tie.

Looking to extend this streak for the Colts are the Miami Dolphins, which features an offense loaded with speed and playmaking abilities. Indianapolis beat Miami at home last season, but the Dolphins were without Tua Tagovailoa in that game.

Shane Steichen named Jones the Colts’ starter because of his consistency, both as a passer and in regard to everything that goes into playing the quarterback position. If the Colts can find stability at quarterback, there’s plenty of talent on the roster that should help Indianapolis find themselves in many games this season.
