NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — As the NFL season kicks off, attention is turning to plans for their new Nissan Stadium, which is set to open in two years.
The team has confirmed to FOX 17 News that the new facility will have fewer parking spots than the current stadium’s 7,000 spaces.
This reduction comes as part of the largest development project in the history of Music City, which will see significant construction around the new stadium site. As a result, the majority of the approximately 60,000 fans attending a sold-out home game will need alternative parking arrangements.
The Titans have indicated that more details on parking plans will be forthcoming. Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the East Bank Development Authority, which is overseeing many of the changes in the area, said, “Metro has a multi-department approach to managing traffic during major events at Nissan Stadium including the East Bank team, NDOT [Nashville Department of Transportation], WeGo, MNPD [Metro Nashville Police Department], the Titans, and others.”
The spokesperson also expressed hope for improvements in traffic management this year compared to last year. The Titans are set to play in Denver this weekend, with their home opener against the Los Angeles Rams scheduled for next Sunday.
