PHILADELPHIA — The Dallas Cowboys have enforced the workout clause to reduce cornerback Trevon Diggs’ salary by $500,000, a person with knowledge of the contract told The Dallas Morning News.
Diggs was hopeful the Cowboys wouldn’t enact the clause in his contract that strips him of $500,000 if he didn’t work out at least 84% of the time in the offseason, but his base salary has been reduced to $8.5 million.
The workout clause is in several contracts of Cowboys players.
Diggs has undergone surgery on his left knee twice.

Early in the 2023 season, Diggs tore his ACL, ending his season after playing in two games. He returned for the start of the 2024 season, but after 11 games suffered another injury to the left knee that was also season-ending.
In January, he underwent a chondral tissue graft where pieces of bone and cartilage were transplanted into the knee area. He rehabbed in Florida and attended mandatory sessions at The Star.
The Cowboys were irked that Diggs didn’t work out more at The Star. Diggs said during training camp that he wasn’t happy about the salary reduction but admitted he must follow the rules.
Diggs had targeted September for a return, even pointing to no later than Week 4 of the 2025 season, but he’s expected to play in Thursday night’s season opener against the Eagles on a limited basis.
