The 2025 NFL season kicks off on Thursday night with a good old-fashioned NFC East matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles. That’s not the only NFC East battle this weekend, though, as the Washington Commanders host the New York Giants on Sunday afternoon.

The first injury report of the week for the two teams on Wednesday had Washington tight end Zach Ertz missing practice. However, it was only a veteran rest day for the 13-year pro. Ertz was back on the practice field Thursday with his teammates.

Things are a little more concerning for the Giants. Left tackle Andrew Thomas participated on a limited basis on Wednesday, but missed Thursday’s practice.

Dan Benton of Giants Wire offered the following update on Thomas:

After participating on a limited basis on Wednesday, Daboll said left tackle Andrew Thomas would sit out before returning again on Friday. His status for Week 1 remains uncertain.

Thomas missed most of last season with a Lisfranc injury that required surgery.
