The New England Patriots are officially listing tight end Jack Westover as a fullback on their website.
Westover converted to fullback during training camp, and it likely secured his spot on the 53-man roster. He was also given a new number with the change. Instead of wearing No. 87, Rob Gronkowski’s old number, Westover will now wear No. 37.

Westover was a walk-on at the University of Washington who went on to earn an All-Pac-12 honorable mention after recording 41 catches for 391 yards and four touchdowns in 2023. His versatility as a receiving tight end and a blocker helped him stand out at the collegiate level.
He went undrafted in 2024 and signed with the Patriots’ practice squad last October, after being waived by the Seattle Seahawks.
He will now have a chance to contribute to a team with a long history of getting usage out of the fullback position. James Develin and Jakob Johnson made their money off their play at the position.
Maybe Westover can be the next great Patriots fullback.
