The Arizona Cardinals will open the season this weekend on the road against the New Orleans Saints. They kick off from Caesars Superdome Sunday at 1 p.m. ET (10 a.m. Arizona time). They hope to do something they have not done this century — beat the Saints on the road.

The Cardinals have faced the Saints 32 times since 1967, but this will be the 32nd regular-season meeting, as they faced the Saints in the postseason after the 2009 season.

Cardinals-Saints history heading into Week 1

The Cardinals lead the all-time series 16-15.

They are 4-8 all-time in New Orleans and the last time the Cardinals won there was in 1996, a 28-14 victory when running back LeShon Johnson rushed for a team-record 214 yards and two touchdowns. It was a battle of Kent Graham for the Cardinals at quarterback against Jim Everett of the Saints.

The last time the Cardinals and Saints met, it was in 2022 in a Thursday night game. Andy Dalton started for the Saints and the Cardinals scored 25 points in the second quarter, including pick-sixes by cornerback Marco Wilson and linebacker Isaiah Simmons, en route to a 42-24 win.
