The Kansas City Chiefs are set to kick off their 2025 season in São Paulo, Brazil, on Friday, Sept. 5. The matchup marks the first Chiefs game since Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce announced their engagement last month, so will the singer be in attendance?
Swift and Kelce revealed their engagement news on Instagram on August 26. “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨,” they captioned the post, which featured a carousel of photos of the Chiefs tight end proposing to the singer in a dreamy garden filled with pink and white roses.
Kelce proposed with a massive antique-style Old Mine Brilliant Cut diamond, which experts estimate to be between $550,000 and $5 million. The sparkler was designed by Kelce and jeweler Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry, according to People.

At a news conference in São Paulo ahead of tonight’s game, Kelce was asked what has changed in his life since getting down on one knee. “I got one more ring from it,” Kelce joked. “Two if we’re counting the first Super Bowl.”
“Ever since I’ve been with Taylor, life has been fun. You know, it’s been exciting,” Kelce continued, acknowledging that there are “a lot more eyes” since they began dating, “and I accept that.” He added that he’s just “living on a high.”

As of now, there’s been no official confirmation from Swift, Kelce, the NFL, or Corinthians (the soccer club that owns the stadium) about the singer’s attendance at the game. However, according to the Associated Press, several Brazilian media outlets report that local TV stations are preparing for her potential arrival.
Swift has been attending Chiefs games long before they were engaged. In fact, her very first game was on Sept. 24, 2023, with his mom, Donna Kelce. This was around the same time the tabloids were speculating about them being romantically involved. Swift later confirmed to TIME that she and Kelce were a couple at that point. “I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game? We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date.”
Over the past two years, Swift has cheered on Kelce and the Chiefs — from the team’s historic Super Bowl victory against the San Francisco 49ers in February 2024 to their return to the Super Bowl in 2025, where they lost to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Now that they’re engaged and Swift’s no longer touring, the superstar will likely be a mainstay at Chiefs games throughout the fall and winter. (Although she didn’t make it to any of the team’s preseason games ahead of the 2025-26 NFL season.) She’s gearing up to release her dazzling orange-hued 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, on Oct. 3. There are also rumors that she may headline the Super Bowl LX halftime show in 2026.

On Aug. 14, the NFL announced that Karol G will perform at the halftime show of the Chiefs vs. Chargers game in São Paulo on Sept. 5.
“I’m so excited to be part of YouTube’s first-ever NFL live broadcast; it’s truly an honor and a moment I’m so proud to be part of,” the international pop star said in a statement. “I’ve watched many NFL halftime shows over the years and now having this opportunity to bring my music to this global stage means the world to me. I can’t wait to celebrate with everyone in São Paulo and fans all around the world.”
