Nick Saban made his weekly appearance on the Pat McAfee Show on Friday, and he expressed he was confused about one element of the game Alabama lost to Florida State 31-17 on Saturday in the season opener.

“I do think there was something in that game that was tough to understand in my opinion,” Saban said, “in that Alabama looked great going down the field on the first drive, Florida State goes right down the field and scores, and then the whole sort of psychological disposition of Alabama’s team changed for what reason I don’t know. Was it anxiety? Was it expectation?”

The Crimson Tide put together a touchdown drive that spanned almost nine minutes to open the game. Then Alabama didn’t score another touchdown until the fourth quarter.

“Obviously for me and for a lot of the ‘Bama fans, a disappointment that Florida State dominated the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball,” Saban said Monday on ESPN. “But the good news is, every team has the best opportunity to improve from Week 1 to Week 2.”

Alabama will face Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday (6:45 p.m. CT, SEC Network) at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
