The 2025 season has just started and the San Francisco 49ers are already dealing with a Christian McCaffrey problem. The running back was listed as questionable on Friday’s injury report with a calf issue after being limited in practice on Thursday. This is the first time he’s shown up on the injury report after previously being a full participant in practice.
When asked about the level of concern, head coach Kyle Shanahan was tight-lipped, saying, “Questionable concern.” McCaffrey was a little more optimistic, calling the injury “nothing serious” and adding, “I feel great about where I’m at.”
It’s a concerning bit of news for the 49ers, who saw McCaffrey limited to only four games last season due to calf, Achilles and PCL injuries. The three-time NFL All-Pro and 2023 Offensive Player of the Year has seen injuries be a common theme throughout his career, having played in seven games or fewer in three of his eight NFL seasons, including in 2024.

The newest Green Bay Packer, Micah Parsons, is questionable with a back injury. It was reported earlier this week that he may need epidural injection to play Week 1,
Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin will miss at least the first month of the season as he recovers from a dislocated ankle suffered in October. He was recently activated from the PUP list but will not play this week.
Brandon Aiyuk is in the same situation as he works his way back after tearing the ACL and MCL in his right knee last October. He was placed on the PUP list this week and won’t be eligible to return until at least Week 5.
Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Darnell Mooney is questionable after declaring himself a “game-time decision” with a right shoulder injury. He also missed Week 18 last season with a right shoulder injury.
Isaiah Likely is unlikely to play for the Baltimore Ravens in Sunday night’s matchup against the Buffalo Bills as he deals with a foot fracture suffered early in training camp.
The Miami Dolphins are dealing with a slew of injuries as wide receiver Tyreek Hill (oblique) and running backs De’Von Achane (calf) and Jaylen Wright (knee) showed up on their injury report. Head coach Mike McDaniel said Friday that Hill and Achane are “absolutely” on track to play, Wright, however, has been ruled out.
