The Atlanta Falcons have signed defensive lineman Sam Roberts off the Carolina Panthers’ practice squad, according to a report from NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo. While the team has yet to announce the move, Atlanta released wide receiver David Sills V from the 53-man roster and safety Grayland Arnold from the injured reserve list.

Roberts, 27, was drafted in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL draft by the New England Patriots. Over his first three NFL seasons, he has appeared in 15 games with one start. In 2024, Roberts played in three games for the Panthers, recording one tackle.

Sills will likely be brought back on the practice squad. The Falcons kept seven wide receivers on their initial 53-man roster, which was likely due to the uncertainty around Darnell Mooney‘s shoulder injury.

Mooney has been listed as questionable for Sundays season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Check out the team’s updated 53-man roster and practice squad entering Week 1 below.
