The University of Rhode Island football team fell behind by ten points early for the second consecutive week, but came roaring back. The Rams outscored the Seawolves 24-0 in the second quarter.
Both teams overcame a two-hour-and-45-minute weather delay on Saturday night in Long Island.
The #8/9 ranked Rams defeated Stony Brook 31-17.

The Rams are now (2-0, 2-0 CAA Football).
A 12-yard touchdown pass from Devin Farrell to Marquis Buchanan pulled URI within 10-7. On the ensuing Stony Brook drive, Leisaan Hibbert intercepted a screen pass and returned it 30 yards for a touchdown to help the Rams take their first lead, 14-10.
After a defensive stop, URI got a 35-yard field goal from Garth White to extend its lead to 17-10. Then, in the final minute of the half, URI drove 84 yards in eight plays and just 46 seconds for a touchdown. Farrell found Antwain Littleton, Jr. for a 1-yard scoring pass to send the Rams into the break up, 24-10.
Stony Brook (0-2, 0-1 CAA Football) managed to get within one score with a touchdown early in the fourth quarter. However, Littleton, Jr. scored his third rushing touchdown of the season on a 15-yard scamper with just over two minutes to go to ice the victory.

– Rhode Island is now 2-0 in CAA Football play. No other team in the league has played more than one conference game thus far.
– Jim Fleming became the third coach in program history to win 50 games with the Rams. Only Bob Griffin (79 wins in 17 seasons) and Frank Keaney (70 wins in 20 seasons) have more victories.
– Quarterback Devin Farrell was 20-of-34 for 316 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions.
– Running back Antwain Littleton, Jr. ran for 122 yards and one touchdown while also catching five passes for 33 yards and a second touchdown.
– Littleton, Jr. has scored four touchdowns in his first two games as a Ram.
– Wide receiver Marquis Buchanan had five catches for 71 yards and a touchdown, his second of the season.
– He now has exactly 2,000 career receiving yards, making him the ninth player in program history to reach the mark.
– Wide receivers Greg Gaines III and Aboraa Kwarteng combined for nine catches and 209 receiving yards. Gaines III caught five passes for 95 yards, while Kwarteng had four for 114m with a long reception of 49 yards.
– Linebacker A.J. Pena led the defense with 10 tackles, including one sack and five solo stops.
– Fellow linebacker Rohan Davy had his second sack in as many games. Davy had nine tackles, including two for loss.
– Linebacker Moses Meus had nine tackles, seven solo, plus one sack.
– Defensive lineman Case Mankins was credited with seven tackles and a forced fumble, his second of the season.
– Rhode Island scored on four of its six trips to the red zone, leading to 24 points.
– The offensive line allowed just one sack for the second week in a row
– Offensive lineman Thomas Buxton served as the game captain, while linebacker Rohan Davy was the anchor bearer.
