The Philadelphia Eagles wanted to bring Micah Parsons home, but the Dallas Cowboys had other ideas.
Parsons, a native of the Keystone State, was traded to the Green Bay Packers after a lengthy contract dispute all offseason long. The All-Pro netted the Cowboys a pair of first round picks and Kenny Clark, while the Packers inked Parsons to a four-year extension worth $188 million in return for his services.

Yet the situation could’ve played out much differently if a division rivalry didn’t exist.
Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer reported on Sunday what the Eagles’ offer was for Parsons, adding that the Cowboys hoped to trade their star to an AFC team.
“The team that actually threw in the biggest offer was the Philadelphia Eagles,” Glazer said. “Two ones, a three, a five, amongst other things. Obviously didn’t want to trade him in the division.”

Glazer added that Clark made the difference for Dallas and they couldn’t get any traction in talks with AFC teams.
The news comes on the heels of ESPN’s Adam Schefter initially reporting that the Eagles made a strong play for Parsons.

Considering their presence as division rivals, any deal would’ve been hard to make – regardless of price.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter previously reported that the Eagles made a strong play for Parsons, attempting to pry him out of Dallas.
It would’ve been a dream acquisition for the defending champion Eagles, who could’ve filled what might just be the only hole on their defense.
Instead Parsons lands in Green Bay, a team that could stand in the way of both the Eagles and Cowboys going forward.
