The Kansas City Chiefs may be without star wide receiver Xavier Worthy for an extended period of time after he dislocated his shoulder in the team’s Week 1 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Worthy, who was Kansas City’s first-round pick in the 2024 NFL draft, was hurt after a collision with veteran tight end Travis Kelce on the Chiefs’ first offensive drive on Friday night.

It is unclear if Worthy will require surgery to mend his shoulder. Reports surfaced over the weekend that the former Texas Longhorn is still undergoing tests to determine the extent of his injury, but that he may be able to return to action while wearing a brace.
With Worthy’s injury, Kansas City’s receiving corps — which is without suspended pass-catcher Rashee Rice until Week 7 — was dealt a crushing blow, which could prove to be a huge disadvantage for Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes as the regular season wears on.
Stay tuned for a more in-depth update on Worthy’s condition this week.
