EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin gave kicker Chris Boswell a ringing endorsement after his 60-yard game-winning field goal over the New York Jets on Sunday.

It was a career-long for Boz. Boswell’s kick probably could have been good from 65 yards out. He got all of it.

As Tomlin likes to say, Boswell did not blink in a high-pressured situation. He was cool, calm and collected.

“I can’t say enough about Boz. Our kicker is a serial killer. He’s got a low pulse rate, and he’s ready to deliver,” Tomlin said after the 34-32 shootout win over the Jets.

Boswell also nailed a 56-yarder in the first half.

“Boz always wants to bang from deep. That one he made in the first half, I don’t know if he looked at me. He just walked out on the field,” Tomlin said. “That’s the type of guy you want banging for you under those circumstances.”

Boswell was seeking a new contract from the Steelers this offseason, but a deal wasn’t reached.

“Despite being voted first team All-Pro, Boswell was the AFC North’s lowest-paid kicker last season. Three years ago Boswell signed a contract that tied him with Justin Tucker as the NFL’s highest-paid kicker; but that market also has been reset the past two years,” Adam Schefter of ESPN wrote on X last month.

Boswell is currently the NFL’s eighth-highest paid kicker. He’s signed through 2026 with a $5 million average annual value. Harrison Butker of the Kansas City Chiefs is the league’s highest-paid kicker with a contract value of $25.6 million/$6.4 AAV.

Boswell, who was 41 of 44 on field goal attempts in 2024, nearly broke an NFL single-season record. The record is 44 field goals, set by San Francisco 49ers kicker David Akers in 2011.

Boswell was clutch for the Steelers this season, converting on 13 of 15 field goal attempts from 50+ yards. Hes also was 35 of 35 on extra points this year. With those kind of numbers, it’s not surprising that Boswell was named first-team All-Pro by the AP.

Boswell was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week twice last season (Week 1 and Week 11). He was also named AFC Special Teams Player of the Month in September and October.

Former Steelers running back and return man Corderrelle Patterson thinks Boswell deserves a raise. Most of Steelers Nation would agree. Boswell is the best kicker in the league.

Chris Boswell deserves a MF raise!!!!,” Patterson wrote on X after Boswell’s 60-yard field goal.

Former Steelers linebacker Vince Williams also wrote on X, “Pay that man!”

Chris Boswell deserves a MF raise!!!!
