The Miami Dolphins find themselves with a mental challenge heading into a Week 2 matchup against the New England Patriots.
On one hand, they want to immediately flush and forget their embarrassing 33-8 loss to the Indianapolis Colts so they can refocus and confidently play a division rival. On the other hand, the Dolphins have to relive the litany of mistakes and errors they made at Lucas Oil Stadium if they want to avoid making them all season.

“We don’t want to overreact, but we don’t want to underreact to this,” Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa told reporters after the blowout loss. “We want to make sure we get this right so that this never happens again.”
Tagovailoa threw two interceptions and lost a fumble in the loss. His 114 passing yards was his lowest total in a game since a September 2022 matchup that he exited early with an injury.
“You never want to look at it as, ‘well, this is just Week 1,’” Tagovailoa said. “We’re going to take our loss. … We need to look in the mirror. We need to continue to hold each other accountable for what it is. I would definitely say it starts with me, and I think as a team collectively, this was something we were trying to avoid. But could this be good for us? I don’t know. We’ll see how we respond next week.”
The Dolphins are set to head back to South Florida for a home opener against the Patriots, who also fell to 0-1 on Sunday. Those two teams, along with the New York Jets, face a familiar sight entering Week 2: the Buffalo Bills all alone in first place.
