Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow underwhelmed in his week one game against the Cleveland Browns. Both teams struggled offensively.
In the Bengals’ 17-16 win, Burrow passed for 113 yards and a touchdown. The former LSU quarterback connected with Tee Higgins, the team’s leading receiver, for 33 yards and tight end Noah Fant for a score. Fellow former Tiger Ja’Marr Chase totaled 26 yards on five targets. One of his catches went for 20 yards.
The Bengals’ offensive line protection of Burrow left a lot to be desired as he was sacked three times for 18 yards. The Browns also finished with eight tackles but ultimately took the loss inside their home stadium.
Burrow is attempting to follow up a career regular season from 2024. He led the NFL with 4,918 passing yards. Sunday’s contest was the first of his sixth season of professional football. After winning the national championship and the Heisman Trophy at LSU, Burrow was the first overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
