The Green Bay Packers play on “Thursday Night Football” in Week 2, so the first injury report of the week arrived on Monday. And Matt LaFleur’s team is dealing with six new injuries coming out of Sunday’s 27-13 win over the Detroit Lions at Lambeau Field.
According to the injury report, the following players were new additions to start Week 2:

WR Matthew Golden (ankle)
DE Brenton Cox Jr. (groin)
P Daniel Whelan (right knee)
Any injury is a significant one during a short week, when recovery is paramount and a player simply has less time to get over an injury and be ready to play in a game.
The four new injuries to focus on are Tom, Banks, Cox and Melton. While the Packers did not practice on Monday, the team estimated that all four injured players would not have practiced. Tom and Banks are starters along the offensive line and could be hard-pressed to be physically ready to play Thursday night against the Washington Commanders.
Against the Lions, the Packers used Jordan Morgan at left guard for Banks, who left in the fourth quarter, and Darian Kinnard at right tackle for Tom, who was injured on an awkward looking play during a negated interception return. The depth up front for the Packers offense is being tested right away in 2025.
While Melton is a core special teamer, Cox’s injury isn’t as impactful with Micah Parsons (estimated to be limited on Monday) ramping up and Kingsley Enagbare available as a veteran backup. Whelan was estimated as a full participant, so his injury — to his kicking leg — is almost certainly minor.

The only other estimated non-participant for Monday was receiver Jayden Reed, who is still managing a foot injury. He played 18 snaps and caught a touchdown pass on Sunday.
Washington only had one estimated DNP on Monday: punter Tress Way (back).
Overall, the Packers have 13 players on the first injury report, while the Commanders have seven.
