FRISCO — Like many Dallas fans, Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer spent much of Sunday channel surfing through NFL games and highlights.
Yes, he happened to notice that Green Bay “looked good” and that new Packer Micah Parsons “looked like he was having fun. That’s good.”

Understandably, though, Schottenheimer on Monday was more interested in elaborating about the Week 1 performance of Kenny Clark, the defensive tackle the Cowboys acquired in the blockbuster Parsons trade.

“Thrilled he’s here, man,” Schottenheimer said.
Schottenheimer described a play in last Thursday’s loss at Philadelphia in which Clark held off an Eagles guard with one hand while using the other to stuff a running back for a 1-yard gain. He marveled at Clark’s sheer strength and steady consistency.
“It’s nothing new for him. He’s been playing high-level football for a long time and (we) love having him around as a teammate.”
Though he had been a Cowboy for just six days, Clark had two solo tackles and assisted on three others.
On Monday, Clark, 29, described how he took a crash course in learning the Cowboys’ defensive schemes, then went onto Lincoln Financial Field and did what comes naturally.

“I know how to play,” he said. “The main thing is being able to get lined up and I’ll be able to do the rest.
“That was my main focus, being able to learn the blitzes, learn the movements and all that kind of stuff. Once I get my feet in the ground, I’m good.”
Clark said he already feels a comfort level with Dallas’ schemes entering Sunday’s game against another NFC East opponent, the Giants. The difference is this game will be in AT&T Stadium.
“Man, I can’t wait,” he said. “I know it’s gonna be rocking. It’s gonna be, it’s gonna be a great divisional game and a game that we definitely need. So I know the crowd’s gonna bring it.”
