The Carolina Panthers have made a few additions less than 24 hours after their regular-season opener.
As announced on Monday afternoon, the team has signed defensive tackle Tommy Akingbesote and safety Israel Mukuamu to their practice squad. Both Akingbesote and Mukuamu are former draft picks of the Dallas Cowboys.

Akingbesote, who played his college ball at the University of Maryland from 2021 to 2024, was selected by Dallas in the seventh round of this year’s draft. The 6-foot-4, 306-pounder appeared in all three of the Cowboys’ preseason contests this summer—where he totaled four combined tackles.
Mukuamu, a Charlotte, N.C. native and University of South Carolina product, was taken as a sixth-round selection in 2021. He appeared in 50 games with three starts for Dallas since—and has amassed 42 tackles, three interceptions, a fumble recovery and a pair of quarterback hits.
