Green Bay Packers fans had a lot of opinions on WR Matthew Golden selecting #81 to be his jersey number after he was drafted 23rd overall for the team. Many sharing their displeasure with the number on social media. Well turns out bullying works! Well, for better or worse. The Packers have now announced that Golden has pivoted and decided he’ll wear #22 for the Packers instead. They shared the news with a comical post across social media.

Based on the reactions from fans many are feeling it is indeed for the worse as the news didn’t seem to be well received by fans based on reactions across social media.

The Packers have had a lot of players rock the #22 over the years going all the way back to 1927 (Lavvie Dilweg to be exact). The most recent player to wear #22 is Robert Rochelle who the Packers lost this offseason in free agency to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Time will tell if Golden can bring some “golden” luck to this number, or if he’ll be bullied enough by fans to change again (or if Malik Willis will take one for the team and give up his #2 jersey).

And I guess time will also tell if this guy can get a refund:
