The Cleveland Browns now have an additional $12 million in cap space after restructuring the contract of cornerback Denzel Ward.
The OBR’s Jack Duffin was the first to report. Here is what Duffin had to say on the move to clear cap space:

“Before week one of the season the Cleveland Browns took the logical step to restructure Denzel Ward’s contract converting $12,221,000 of his $13,476,000 into a signing bonus giving them additional cap space for the 2025 season. This leaves the minimum base salary for a player of his tenure which is $1,255,000.”
The Browns now sit with around $18 million in cap space after the move. This sits them 11th in the NFL in cap space.
However, do not expect the Browns to be preparing for any massive move as a result. Still sorting through the Deshaun Watson contract situation, the Browns will likely be rolling over every dollar into the 2026 season to deal with an overage.
