The Kansas City Chiefs are fresh off a gutwrenching loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in their first game of the 2025 regular season.
With high expectations to start the new season with a win, the Chiefs came up short against Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert and were unable to stop one of the league’s best budding offenses.
However, the silver lining was the play of Kansas City’s star quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, who put forth a superhuman effort to keep Los Angeles’ lead within arm’s reach until the final whistle.
The experts at Pro Football Focus took notice of Mahomes’ extraordinary effort and awarded him with a grade of 79.0, the highest among his teammates in Friday’s loss to Chargers:
Despite Mahomes’ best efforts, the reigning AFC champions were ill-prepared to compete with the Chargers under head coach Jim Harbaugh.
Friday’s loss is sure to provide extra motivation for the Chiefs as they prepare to face their former Super Bowl foes, the Philadelphia Eagles, on Sunday, September 14.
