Jeremy Cluff writes: “The Texans missed Joe Mixon in their NFL Week 1 loss to the Los Angeles Rams and they face another strong run defense in Week 2 in Tampa Bay. The Buccaneers will get the upset on the road.”
Bookies.com: Bet the Buccaneers on the moneyline vs Texans
Bill Speros writes: “Houston QB C.J. Stroud took the second-most sacks in the NFL last season and will be on the run again this week given the troubles that remain on the Texans’ offensive line. Houston needs to get its special teams right if it hopes to compete against Tampa Bay this week and contend down the stretch. The Buccaneers have not missed the postseason since acquiring Tom Brady in 2020. Baker Mayfield leads a veteran Tampa Bay team that will go as far as its defense will allow. (See Week 1.) This week, that means an upset win on the road at Houston.”
Bet MGM: Bet the under in Texans vs Buccaneers game
Nick Hennion writes: “Based on Tampa Bay’s injury absentees and DeMeco Ryans’ strong record to the under as a head coach, my Texans vs Buccaneers prediction is Under 46.5 Points (-110). Chris Godwin definitely won’t feature in Week 2. A decent chance exists that Tristan Wirfs won’t play either. Wirfs’ potential absence concerns me a lot. Houston possesses one of the league’s best edge rush duos – Will Anderson and Danielle Hunter – and could cause serious problems. Plus, Texans games have proved an under machine with Ryans. Since he joined the team, Houston has seen 22 of 34 finish under the total.”
ESPN: Texans have a 49.9% chance to beat Buccaneers on Monday Night Football
The site gives the Buccaneers a 49.7% shot at winning the NFL Week 2 game, with the remaining percentage accounting for a tie.
Dimers: Texans 24, Buccaneers 23
It writes: “After extensive simulations, our model gives the Buccaneers a win probability of 46%, while the Texans have a win probability of 54%.”
Sportsnaut: Buccaneers 24, Texans 20
Matt Johnson writes: “The Houston Texans defense will have an opportunity to win the early game in the Monday Night Football doubleheader in part because the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be without Tristan Wirfs and Chris Godwin in Week 2. However, while Houston’s defense gives them a chance to win, this offense might waste an opportunity at it in a low-scoring game. Tampa Bay will have zero trouble shutting down an already non-existent Texans ground game. So, as long as the Buccaneers’ pass rush can win the battle in the trenches, Baker Mayfield will move to 2-0 on the year.”
